1.2.1 Modernization of agricultural exploitation

Measure 1.2.1 facilitates the improvement of the overall performance of “agricultural exploitation”.

Taking as a fact that there is a need of modernizing the agricultural exploitation of our country, so that its productive and environmental performance is substantially improved in an intensely competitive international market, this measure constitutes a basic means of modernizing agricultural exploitation, aiming at both increasing the agricultural income as well as reducing the long-term tendency of investment-removal from the agricultural sector.

In every proclamation the Union of Agrinio undertakes the completion and submission of all the relevant files.

Actions of modernizing agriculture are promoted, that concern both the vegetable and animal production, emphasizing on the modernization of animal production exploitation, referring to the sheep and goats-raising sector as well as the cattle-raising sector, while in the sector of vegetable production investment plans, concerning the tobacco and cotton production sectors, are prioritized.

Moreover, the new challenges for European agriculture were defined, among which are the restructure measures concerning the dairy production sector.

Aim of the measure

The measure aims to improve the overall performance of agricultural exploitation by supporting investments:

1. to improve the production of exploitation, by extending or replacing pre-existing sectors or introducing new production sectors, whose products do not face disposal problems,
2. to improve quality,
3. to protect soil, water, to mitigate climate change and promote safety in the working environment,
4. to improve the health and living conditions of the animals,
5. to improve the quality and hygiene of milk, in the context of New Challenges, through an action that refers to low cost investments on agricultural exploitation.

The demand for improvement of the overall performance of agricultural exploitation is satisfied mainly by materializing investments:

1. for the relocation of stock raising exploitation, in cases that the relocation is considered necessary for reasons of environment protection and public health,
2. for the hygiene and good living standards of animals,
3. for the protection of public health,
4. for the protection of soil, water and mitigation of climate change,
5. for ensuring security in the working environment,
6. for the adoption of innovations as well as informatics and telecommunication technologies (ITT),
7. for the improvement and monitoring of products’ quality,
8. for the improvement and monitoring of multiple compliance with the regulations,
9. for the improvement of operational and business ability of agricultural exploitation,
10. for the improvement of exploitation production, by extending or replacing pre-existing sectors or introducing new production sectors, whose products do not face disposal problems.

The Union of Agrinio undertakes to see the whole procedure through, concerning the application enforcement/candidacy file, where the predicted feasibility of the afore-mentioned investments is documented as well as their contribution to improving the overall agricultural exploitation (financial improvement, environmental improvement etc.) in the future and always compared to the present situation.

Μοdernizing and upgrading the producers’ facilities constitutes the main goal of the Union of Agrinio. That is why we make use of every tool possible.

Type of investment (material-immaterial)

• The investment expenses that can be partly covered include the following:
• Construction (buildings, special facilities) and modernization of exploitation fixed standards.
• Purchase or leasing of new engineering and mechanical equipment and infrastructure.
• Informatics and telecommunication equipment, aiming to automate production, monitoring cultivation parameters and inflow.
• Informatics and telecommunication equipment, in order to promote e-commerce.
• General costs, related to the above expenses, as fees of architects, engineers and counsels, feasibility studies as well as expenses concerning the acquirement of patent and license rights.
• Ground improvements and specific systems designed to reduce water losses.
